Double amputee Oscar Pistorius, of South Africa’s National Track Team, has been one of the major story lines of summer’s Olympic Games. “Blade Runner” as he’s called, springs out of the block with the assistance of two carbon fiber Össur designed blades fitted as his legs below the knee.

Recently the good folks at Fast Company set down with Nike design guru Tobie Hatfield, to talk about how Nike collaborated with Pistorius and Össur to build custom made spikes for the sprinter’s blades.
